When I removed the heater coolant loop I found two very bad things:<\/p>\n

  1. It was green.<\/li>\n
  2. It had gunk in it, likely small amounts of settled oil.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Now.\u00a0 Why is it being green bad you ask?\u00a0 It is because the DT466, while a magnificent engine, is prone to various issues if one uses improper fluids or simply doesn’t change them out when scheduled.\u00a0 Green antifreeze is \/not\/ what makes the engine happy.\u00a0 Green antifreeze is what makes the sleeves eat through rapidly due to cavitation.<\/p>\n

    The second problem, the gunk?\u00a0 Yeah, fairly obvious do-not-want issue. \ud83d\ude1b<\/p>\n

    Worst case was I have to do a rebuild, looks more likely that will be the case.\u00a0 Roughly $1100 and I get to basically start new on engine wear.\u00a0 Not a bad deal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
